COMPETETIVE LEAGUE TEAMS
A.During formation of a competitive league team, a notice announcing the proposed team and team level must be posted at the tennis courts to allow Chickering members an opportunity to play on that team.
B.A mandatory meeting between all tennis captains and the Chickering Homeowners Tennis Committee Chairperson must be held prior to the beginning of league play each year.
C.All competitive league teams out of Chickering should be comprised of Chickering members only. If Chickering members are unable to field a complete team at a certain level, they may:
1.Submit a request to the Tennis Committee for outsiders to join the team prior to the season of play. If approved by the Tennis Committee and the Chickering Board of Directors, Chickering members must comprise at least 75% of the total roster, subject to a minimum of 8 Chickering members. Once the team roster includes 14 Chickering members for the men’s/women’s league, or 22 Chickering members for the mixed league, no outsiders will be permitted to play on that team.
2.Each outsider is required to pay $25 to the Chickering Tennis Committee prior to the start of each season and agree to follow the Chickering Homeowners Association Tennis Rules and Code of Etiquette. Outsider play is restricted to team practices and matches.
D.Prior to submitting a season’s competitive league roster, each Chickering member must be approved by the treasurer as a member in good standing of the Chickering Homeowners Association.

CODE OF ETIQUETTE
In addition to the rules listed above, the tennis committee would like to set forth a list of suggestions to remember when using our courts. With this in mind, three courts may become too few to accommodate our many players. We would like to suggest some guidelines in court etiquette to help our operation run more smoothly...
A. Use the available sign up spaces to best advantage. Avoid leaving half hour gaps that result in wasted court time when possible.
B. Respect the play of others by seeking permission to cross to the other court when you arrive and leave.
C. Acknowledge the group that has the court next and let them know that you will finish your game or point promptly, then cede the court as soon as possible.
D. Likewise, if you are the arriving group, let the players occupying your court know you are there and are ready to play.
E. Concerning the sign up board, if you see what you believe to be a flagrant violation, make a constructive phone call rather than erasing it.
F. If your ball rolls into another court, wait for play on that court to stop before you chase your ball behind the players or ask for help.
G. If you are on the courts at the same time any of the ALTA/USTA teams are engaged in a match, please keep all loud boisterous behavior to a minimum.

It is the hope of the tennis committee that these rules and guidelines for better court etiquette will be enacted and remembered by all tennis players to ensure a good time for all.
